Cyber Essentials Plus Certification Awarded to Altecnic

Altecnic, has been awarded the ‘Cyber Essentials Plus’ certification, the highest level of certification offered under the Cyber Essentials scheme.

Following a recent survey by the UK Government, which revealed that four in ten businesses and a quarter of all charities had reported having a cyber security breach or attack in the last twelve months*, the importance of cyber security is more evident than ever. Hence, Altecnic has made it a priority to ensure that business information, and the information of all customers, is as protected as possible from cyber-attacks.

The Cyber Essentials Scheme is a government backed and industry supported scheme, which aims to help businesses protect themselves against the growing threat of cyber-attacks. The scheme also provides a clear statement of the basic controls an organisation should have in place to protect itself.

To achieve the Cyber Essentials Plus certification, Altecnic’s systems went through rigorous testing. Beginning with the ‘Stage One’ questionnaire, Altecnic listed the various controls that the business has in place. This included technical controls (Firewall, Antivirus, Network design, etc) and procedural controls (Information Security Policies, Cyber Training, etc). To then test the competency of these controls, ‘Stage Two’ (where internal and external penetration testing and vulnerability scanning take place) was initiated.

By achieving the highest standard of certification Altecnic have demonstrated the wider commitment the business has to cyber security and ensuring that all customer and employee information is safely managed.

Matthew Lee, IT and Cyber Lead at Altecnic stated, ‘Over the past 5 years, our aim as a business has been to create a culture of security. Our employees undertake regular cyber security training, giving them the skills to identify potential risks to the business and the service we provide to our customers.’

Lee continued, ‘Cyber Essentials Plus allows us to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to keeping our data, and that of our customers and suppliers safe.’

Simon Grocott, Operations Director at Altecnic, added, ‘Our achievement in obtaining the Cyber Essentials Plus certificate is part of a wider commitment to continually improve our IT, cyber controls and processes. This makes certain that we do our utmost to protect our digital assets and those of our stakeholders, further showing that we take the dynamic cyber threat landscape seriously.’
