What is a sealed system?

Sealed systems are the most commonly used form of system type in Europe and most of the world. A sealed system comprises an expansion vessel into which heated water can expand into. The pressurised vessel pushes water back into the system as the system cools.

Sealed systems do not require a feed and expansion tank, unlike an open-vented system, and use a pressure relief valve as opposed to an open vent pipe. The valve opens in the event of an over-pressure to release pressure.

What is a sealed system kit?

A sealed system kit includes all the essential components needed for a sealed system installation. The majority of our kits include an expansion vessel, filling loop, safety relief valve (complete with gauge), assembly connector and mounting bracket (please refer to product specifications to check contents of each kit).

Altecnic offer a range of different kits to accommodate different requirements. Our Robokit Compact offers the same high-quality performance as our standard Robokits but with a space-saving compact design that can fit in kitchen cupboards or storage. The Robokit Extra includes a nitrogen-filled expansion vessel which prevents permeation of the gas through the membrane, which can compromise the pre-charge pressure.
